You have two options for previewing your animation before export:

  1. Figma player

  2. Plugin previewer

We recommend using the Figma player when creating & refining your animation since it has a faster load time and higher resolution, then using the plugin previewer to confirm export results before starting the export process.

1️⃣ Figma player

Figma's requirements for playing an animation are:

  • Design must be within a frame.

  • Design must have a flow starting point to determine where the animation starts.

  • Will only play frames with connections.

Preview your animation by clicking the blue play button to the right of your Flow Starting Point. The in-line player will popup next to your design.

2️⃣ Plugin previewer

The plugin previewer lets let users view a faster-loading low resolution render of a design before starting the lengthier export process.

Requirements for the plugin previewer are the same as for the Figma player.

To preview your design, open the plugin and click the play button in the plugin dialog box.

Note that if you don’t have a Flow Starting Point anywhere in your design file, you will see the below screen when attempting to preview your animation.
